Spring has Sprung
Morecambe Bay is home to many diverse species of flora and fauna and now is time to explore nature and wildlife at its very best.
Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve has lots of exciting events and activities to help you find out more about the birds and animals, plants and insects living on your doorstep.
- Take the Loud and Clear Wildlife Challenge Trail to find out about the sounds of nature – how birds and animals call and communicate.
- Make some friends at Birds in the Barn, discover What Lives Beneath or join the Wildlife Explorers Club.
- Or simply visit the reserve with family and friends to discover nesting avocets, soaring marsh harriers, black tailed godwits and reed warblers.
Sizergh Castle also welcomes nature-lovers with a Nature Explorer Trail, running 3 – 15 April. Discover who lives in the countryside around the castle – it may surprise you!
And Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is opening its new Red Squirrel enclosure at Easter – your chance to meet this iconic native animal in its new ‘squirrel playground’ complete with trees to climb, rope walkways to scamper across and feeding stations to visit!
It’s not only during the Easter Holidays that you can enjoy the bay’s wildlife, of course! The National Trust Ranger team also has some fantastic wildlife and nature events lined up in April and May – find out more here.
