Egg-citing Times at Local Zoo this Easter

6th-22nd April 2019, 10AM-5PM

If you’re bewildered at the choice of brightly coloured Easter eggs currently on offer, they pale in comparison to the weird and wonderful range of eggs across the animal kingdom!  And this Easter, Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is celebrating with a look at some of the biggest, brightest and beastliest.

When staff at the “little zoo with lots to do” on the A6 near Milnthorpe realised it wasn’t just their birds who laid eggs, it gave them ‘paws’ for thought.  In fact, more than half of the zoo’s scaly, scuttle-y, feathered and fuzzy inhabitants lay eggs (of all shapes and sizes), some in their thousands!

So they decided to invite everyone to marvel at the effort evolution and the Oasis’s creatures devoted to creating, laying, nurturing and protecting their eggs.  Throughout the Easter holidays, from 6th-22nd April, the zoo’s EGGstravaganza event will crack open a variety of activities, trails, crafts and installations.

Egg-heads can follow clues around the EGGstravaganza Trail, discovering nature’s biggest, brightest, and downright oddest eggs.  Intrepid EGGsplorers, watch out for close encounters with giant nests hidden around the zoo by animals from times gone by, all included in the regular admission.

After a major refurbishment, the zoo’s most intriguing ‘living prehistoric’ egg laying inhabitants are already basking in lizard-ly luxury in their purpose built wing. Visitors can enjoy exciting new interactive displays and activities, plus the chance to get up and even closer to salamanders, snakes, frogs, lizards and more!

Zoo manager Jack Williams explains; “Eggs are simply amazing, and so are the animals that hatch out of them!  They’ve evolved over millions of years to become the self contained life-support systems we see today, so come along and discover eggs, and their hatchlings, in every shape, size and colour imaginable.”

To keep all EGGsplorers refreshed, the zoo’s ‘Wild Café’ will be serving a range of snacks, meals, drinks and treats throughout the day. With additional exhibits and displays throughout the zoo, plus the popular interactive keeper talks throughout the day, there’s plenty to make the Easter holidays truly EGGstraordinary!

The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is open for voyages of discovery 7 days a week, 10am till 5pm.  To keep up with all their amazing animals and upcoming events, including Easter EGGstravaganza adventures, go to www.wildlifeoasis.co.uk, and check out ‘Lakeland Wildlife Oasis’ on Facebook for daily updates and pictures.
