‘More-Cam’ – a bird’s eye view of the bay

Morecambe Business Improvement District (BID) has had three web-based cameras installed on the top of Treasure Island at the bottom of Euston Road in Morecambe. The cameras, overlooking the promenade and the bay, are intended to give the world a window on Morecambe and its beautiful views and sunsets.

The cameras give a great birds’-eye view of Morecambe 24 hours a day, showing its panoramic promenade, bustling festivals, changing weather and even the local wildlife – including seagulls eager for their chance to star on screen!

The cams will allow people who have moved away from the area to reconnect with Morecambe – sparking a sense of nostalgia and happy memories of growing up by the seaside or childhood family holidays.

Dr David Jarratt, Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire, hopes that the webcams will also allow people from far and wide to ‘virtually visit’ Morecambe – and discover its scenery, its wildlife and its uniqueness.
