The Bay – Season 2 ITV Series set in Morecambe Bay
The Bay, ITV’s 6-part crime drama set in Morecambe, will return to our screens on Wednesday 20th January at 9PM when Series 2 airs. The fantastic first series of this gritty drama, with its sweeping bay panoramas and shots of the Stone Jetty, The Midland and Morecambe Beach, has certainly raised Morecambe’s profile and sparked interest in the area and we have more to look forward to with series 2.
The various outdoor locations have been familiar to local residents and regular visitors. The Promenade and Stone Jetty have provided ideal locations for some dramatic scenes whilst the brooding sea has been the perfect backdrop for some exciting revelations!
Morecambe Police Station has taken a starring role and the locations of the cafes, shops, hotels and pubs on the prom, plus some of the characters’ houses at Sunderland Point and Hest Bank have been spotted by eagle-eyed viewers. Grange Over Sands Lido – a gem of Art Deco architecture and the focus of a dedicated renovation campaign – was even featured in one tense scene.
Locals and visitors alike are keeping their fingers crossed for a second series – with Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong suspended and a major drugs import ring busted – where could the story take us next?
The Bay’s first series began airing in March 2019 on ITV and can be watched on Catch Up via ITV Hub.
