The Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in Carnforth, first designated in 1972, spans the county boundary between Lancashire and Cumbria and covers an area of approximately 75 sq km.
A distinctive landscape on the shores of Morecambe Bay, it reveals an intimate mosaic of limestone hills, ancient woodland, herby-rich grassland and coastal scenery.
