Arnside & Silverdale

Silverdale and Arnside are famous for their amazing wildlife, stunning scenery, and superb walks. From the simple beauty of the Lady’s-slipper Orchid to the shining sands of Morecambe Bay, the area is simply awe-inspiring – full of natural spectacles and a surprise around every corner.

The Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in Carnforth, first designated in 1972, spans the county boundary between Lancashire and Cumbria and covers an area of approximately 75 sq km.

A distinctive landscape on the shores of Morecambe Bay, it reveals an intimate mosaic of limestone hills, ancient woodland, herby-rich grassland and coastal scenery.
