The Bay – ITV Series set in Morecambe Bay
Season 5 of The Bay, ITV’s crime drama set in Morecambe, has been confirmed for renewal!
The fantastic first four series of this gritty drama, with its sweeping bay panoramas and shots of the Stone Jetty, The Midland and Morecambe Beach, have certainly raised Morecambe’s profile and sparked interest in the area and its filming locations, which have been familiar to local residents and regular visitors. The Promenade and Stone Jetty have provided ideal locations for some dramatic scenes whilst the brooding sea has been the perfect backdrop for some exciting revelations. For Season 3, Morecambe even gained a new (temporary) supermarket and takeaway!
Morecambe Police Station has taken a starring role and the locations of the cafes, shops, hotels and pubs on the prom, plus some of the characters’ houses at Sunderland Point and Hest Bank have been spotted by eagle-eyed viewers. Grange Over Sands Lido – a gem of Art Deco architecture and the focus of a dedicated renovation campaign – was even featured in one tense scene in the first series.
